PlainIngredients launched on March 14, 2026 with FDA, EU, and U.S. state food-additive regulatory data, and was most recently refreshed on May 15, 2026. See the methodology page for how the dataset is built.

1. 2026-07-20 Correction

   Corrected a site-wide disclaimer that overclaimed "we do not rate, rank, or recommend specific brands or products" while the site does publish a computed safety-score ranking (the Safest Food Brands guide, the rankings pages). The disclaimer now accurately describes the safety score as a transparent derived index, not an official FDA/EU rating, and states we do not accept payment to feature or rank any brand.

2. 2026-07-20 Trust

   Added a contextual "report a data issue" link to every data page, pre-addressed and pre-filled with the page you came from, so corrections take one click instead of a blank email.

3. 2026-07-18 Enrichment

   Shipped /compare/, a genuine side-by-side comparison tool for any two food additives' safety score, FDA status, EU status, and state-ban record.

4. 2026-07-17 Correction

   Fixed a trust-footer claim that was inaccurate on 7 of 8 guide pages (a blanket statement that did not match those pages' actual content).

5. 2026-05-15 Data refresh

   Refreshed the full ingredient and product dataset against the FDA Substances Added to Food (SAFFA) inventory, EU Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008, and current U.S. state food-safety legislation.

6. 2026-03-14 Launch

   PlainIngredients launched with a food-additive safety database drawn from FDA, EU, and U.S. state regulatory sources.
